Recent trend suggests higher and higher corporate finance, particularly M&A activities in India and around the world. Industry practice also points to lack of competent managers to handle this kind of activities.
Is it a better choice for managers handling corporate finance activities in a manufacturing / services company to move out for management consulting job?
1st and may be the foremost reason for such change is MONEY. Mgmt consulting industry pays much more than a mfg company can pay. 2nd reason can be challenging assignments from diverse industries / streams coming in way of a person with mgmt consulting company.
However, important question is, whether mfg industry person will be suitable for kind of job in mgmt consulting firm? What’s the general view?
Also, would like to know from a person who has a long experience of working in mgmt consulting firm - what are the top 3 or 5 characteristics of suitability to such industry?
