How can we help encourage creativity in youngsters today?

It has always been a wonder to me - the creativity of our youngsters!! If we could synergise with / channelise this creative energy, I am sure that many of the problems that the world faces today could be erased forever.

Do we remember the sheer enthusiasm and energy with which we worked on a project for our favourite teacher? The smile, the encouragement she gave us which fired our hearts! That is the platform from where atributes such as loyalty, genorosity and leadership are built. WIth that we have sown the seed of enthusiasm!

Even as India is yet again poised to enter a great creative industry - the vast animation industry - as a major player, we as responsible adults, parents, teachers, acamedicians, industry professionals - need to introspect as to what is our contribution to this great industry. DO we want to nurture true, creative geniuses insearch of perfection, or thwarted, disheartened individuals perpetuating our smug satisfaction with mediocrity.

We often tend to pigeon-hole our youngsters often labelling them as rebellious, as having the wrong attitude, many times quelling their enthusiasm with our sheer innate sense of misplaced justice - thereby succeeding in killing their sense of acheivement, their love and sense of wonder and their dreams! We often end up creating a bunch who will be satisfied with mediocrity - because their parents/mentors/educators/leaders did not have the courage to encourage their unlimited, fresh creativity and chanelise their energies and potential instead of putting them down in a zone which we could handle!

Their unudulterated and unbiased feel and imagination will power the engines of the creative industry - be it design, art, animation

If we in seats of "power" - whether as parents, heads of institutions ,as employers / mentors understand the power of mentoring and giving, and follow the guiding principles, we contribute to their growth to the fullest potential!

Let us take some time today to help someone else become his or her best. Give them the encouragement they need to reach their fullest potential! Every time we do so, the rewards come back to us beyond our wildest imagination!
