Hi
What makes the IT and some non-IT companies tick so much on organizing TPO Meets every now and then? Why do they repeatedly stress on industry-ready fresh recruits? What is it that colleges can do in order to supply industry-ready recruits to the industry?
To start with, TPO Meets are a way of taking a day off from work and be in the premises of some top notch company, listen to some 'gyan' on what the company is looking for, the things that the college can do, etc.;have lunch / dinner, rub shoulder with friends, get back to college and submit a report (some don't).
Does any one bother to do really something to deliver an indutry-ready student/s? Can a TPO /a Professor / Teacher be a change-agent and prepare a student into a finished product? ('product' is a term I am using without changing the fact that I am referring to a human being).
Today we have freshers from B.E and MBA colleges seeking cushy jobs. Most do not have the relevant industry knowledge lest of all the focus. They want high pay packages. If selected some fail to deliver. A lot of time goes into training them. A lot of time goes into getting them out of their colleges days and into a professional attitude / mindset.
Can we reduce the transition time and have a finished product ready for the industry?
Watch out for my 2nd posting, coming soon...
